Alessandra Brainard is an Associate at the firm’s Philadelphia office where she works with the Special Investigations & Fraud team. Within SIU, Alessandra has developed litigation strategy, drafted pleadings, written substantive motions, handled extensive discovery, taken and defended depositions, interviewed witnesses, conducted hearings and arbitrations, worked directly with clients, negotiated settlements, and handled trial preparation in state and federal court. In furtherance of her work, Alessandra has presented on varying fraud schemes, including rideshare fraud and staged accidents. Outside of her work with SIU, Alessandra is a Member of the Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement Committee and a Volunteer Pro Bono Attorney with Philadelphia VIP. She began her career at Bennett, Bricklin & Saltzburg LLC as a Summer Associate in 2022.
In 2023, Alessandra graduated with a Juris Doctor and a concentration in Litigation & Dispute Resolution from Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law. Upon graduation, Alessandra received the Faculty Recognition Award and Maura Buri Memorial Excellence in Student Research Prize for her piece, Not For Your Eyes: The Case for Imposing Civil Liability Against Sextortion. While at Villanova Law, Alessandra served as the Chairperson for the Moot Court Board. As Chairperson, Alessandra managed thirty members; acted as the point-person between the Board and the Villanova Law Administration; and oversaw all coordination and expenditures for the Board. In addition to serving as Chairperson, Alessandra served as a Dean’s Ambassador, Executive Board Member of the Emerging Technology Legal Society, and Student Ambassador to the Office of Admissions. Formerly, Alessandra worked as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Judge Elizabeth T. Hey in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and as an Extern for the Villanova Law Institute to Address Sexual Exploitation.
Prior to attending law school, Alessandra worked for the Massachusetts Office of the Inspector General, combatting fraud, waste, and abuse in the Bureau of Program Integrity and the Policy & Government Division.
In 2018, Alessandra graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Elon University, where she majored in Strategic Communications and minored in Political Science. At Elon, the Elon Journal of Undergraduate Research in Communications published her article, A Content Analysis of Crimes Posted on Social Media Platforms, which explored the rationale for posting crimes online under Sigmund Freud’s guilt theories.
In her spare time, Alessandra enjoys skiing, horseback riding, competitive board games, volunteering in the community, and long walks on the Jersey Shore.
