BBS Spotlight - Katherine Avetta
This week’s BBS Spotlight focuses on BBS associate, Katherine Avetta! In 2021, Katie received her Juris Doctor from Drexel University’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law, where she served as Vice President of the Moot Court Board. While on Moot Court, Katie received top oralist awards at both the National Moot Court Competition and at the American Bar Association National Appellate Advocacy Competition. Also, during law school, Katie was the recipient of the CALI Award for Best Student Performance in Pennsylvania Practice. Katie also served as a Co-Op Extern in the Civil Division of the United States Attorney’s Office where she co-authored an article entitled “Federal Rule of Evidence 106: Both a Sword and a Shield”. Upon graduation, Katie was inducted into the Order of the Barristers, an honorary organization for graduating law students who demonstrate exceptional skills in oral advocacy and brief writing. Prior to joining the firm in 2022, Katie completed a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Timothy W. Chell, Presiding Judge, Civil Division and the Honorable Sandra Lopez, J.S.C. in the Superior Court of New Jersey. Katie is a member of the firm’s worker’s compensation department and focuses her practice on the defense of employers and insurance companies in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In her free time, you can find Katie on the ski slopes, running on Kelly Drive, or coaching Drexel University’s Moot Court Board!
